    New Eclectic Site Look!

Discover Tarot Cards Finally Getting a Much Needed Colourful Overhaul

For the past few years, Miss L has been so focussed on writing content and working with clients, she’s sad to admit that the look of the site really suffered from neglect.

Not for too much longer! The new Discover Tarot Cards site will have the same great content but a much lighter and brighter look and feel. Filled with more pictures and graphics, the site will pay tribute to the turn-of-the-century Tarot renaissance with colours of a vintage carnival.

New additions to the site over the next few months will include Content 2.0 readiness, expanded information about tarot spreads, tarot card symbols, enhanced tarot card meanings and much more. Expect the community of a new forum and the ability to buy online readings from Miss L.

If there’s any content or focus you’d like added to the site, please send a comment via the site form or send Miss L an email at lucy at discover-the-meaning-of-tarot.com.
It’s In The Cards Newsletter is a monthly publication distributed to subscribers only.

Connecting To Your Intuition Involves Acknowledging What You Feel

You Are More Psychic Than You Know

One of the big challenges when you start to develop psychically is the affirmation of when your intuition is really working. Yes, there are those precognitive dreams or elements of clairvoyance, which makes your psychic ability difficult to ignore. But what if your sixth sense is more subtle in its presence?

It’s a good practice to start recording elements of intuition as you experience them. Miss L doesn’t recommend telling the people around you – atleast, not just yet. A notebook, tape recorder, sketch book or digital recorder are better outlets for the newbie.

Why not tell family or friends? For starters, most beginner intuitives need some practice to really understand what their sixth sense means when feelings come through. Recording them for posterity yourself eliminates the pressure of having to live up to predications and allows you to note your successes and failures.

Miss L took much, much longer to realize the volume of impressions she was getting because of forgotten intuitive impressions and feelings. Writing them down forced her to stay in the moment and own up to her psychic opening.

That being said, even if you’re high-tech, start low-tech with a small notebook and pen/pencil that will travel everywhere with you for a month or two. Take it in a bag when you go out and leave it right by your bed when you sleep. Anytime any sort of impression comes to you, jot it down.

What sort of feelings is Miss L talking about? Some areas to note are: • Dreams • Re-occurring thoughts • Patterns or symbols that present themselves in daily life (like always seeing the number 11 or having the same colour and model car appear in various places across several days) • Sudden mood or feeling change (if this seems to happen more frequently, also note your environment) • Knowledge from no logical source • Sense of connection to someone (including knowing when a specific person will call or visit) • Pre-cognition • Hunches

As an example, Miss L was standing in line at the grocery store when an older woman rushed by her and suddenly Miss L started to think very insistently “The eggs, gotta get the eggs, Get the eggs!” Miss L was at first puzzled by this because she didn’t need eggs.

A minute later, the woman who had pushed by her returned briskly carrying a carton of eggs. If Miss L hadn’t been paying attention to either part of that situation, she would have thought she was experiencing craziness rather than clairaudience. You don’t need to write a novel but include as many clarifying details as possible. Be logical in your pursuit of intuition and remember to review your notes in a couple of months to see if they make more sense.

    Fall Into Tarot Cards!

A Simple New Tarot Card Layout for Autumn

If you’ve always wanted to connect to the rhythm of the seasons, fall is the time of harvest and action. Not the time of developing new skills but to gather the rewards of work previously started and karma. It’s not quite the time of conclusion but it is a time of wealth and comfort. If you’re familiar with the Tarot suit of Wands, their influence is very much present in the fall. If you’re not, visit The Wands to read the meaning of each Tarot card in the suit.

So Fall is fast approaching and you may be wondering how to use this time to check in with yourself. Typically hectic with kids trotting off to school, heaps of yard work, and the lull of summer quickly fading, finding a few minutes in the Fall can be a challenge.

This tarot card layout gives a nod to a symbol of Autumn, the maple leaf and takes anywhere from 10-40 minutes to interpret. The Leaf of Change Tarot Spread

    Care For Your Cards

Every Tarot card reader has their own belief about how Tarot cards should be stored. The key point to remember is that it is just preference. As long as your Tarot cards aren’t being used to even out a rickety table leg or collecting dust under the bed, the most crucial element is respect. Here are a couple of suggestions if you’re looking for something different than the box your cards came in.

FABRIC One of the most popular choices for card storage, many readers like to wrap their cards in a piece of silk or velvet. Good for general protection, remember that this method will not protect your cards against inclement weather or strangers who accidentally knock an open bottle of red wine into your bag (true story).

TAROT BOX The more creative tarot card readers like to create a tarot box for card storage. For an idea, visit the Tarot Card box page. While this does offer more protection, your Tarot cards will be less portable than before. Choose what works best for your reading habits.

    Card Contemplation

    The Sun Tarot Card

What better time than mid-summer to contemplate the tarot card that embodies its warm glow. An enduring symbol of childhood, friendship and happiness, The Sun is one of the few cards of the Major Arcana that promises a break in addition to a lesson. With it, you learn as you unwind.

With The Sun, you are being invited to drink and be merry but reminded that there needs to be substance behind the surface to make your hopes into reality.

Enjoy the sunshine but stay vigilant about the action you need to take in the near future.

If you’re looking into The Sun, ask yourself:

    • What can I do to enjoy my time more with family and friends?
    • Am I spending enough time with the people who inspire and energize me?
    • Am I spending enough energy with the children or animals I care for? What do I get from these relationships? What do I give?

      Q & A

Q & A Q; I wanted to ask you a question about Tarot cards? How do I do that? A: Starting next month, I’m introducing an ‘Ask the Divine Miss L’ section on the website. This will feature reader questions about tarot cards, interpretation, tarot card layouts and any psychic or intuitive questions you may have,

If you’d like to have your question answered, please send it via email to lucy at Discover-the-Meaning-of-Tarot.com. *FYI* Questions along the line of “When will I find my soulmate?” or “Will B break up with Y so we can be together again?” are more suited to a tarot card reading and won’t be addressed in this section.

Q: What is the best tarot deck to use? A: That will really depend on your taste, style, preferences and budget. I always advocate using a Tarot deck that you love the look and feel of and that suits your personality. For some, the Hello Kitty deck would be ideal while others would consider it an abomination. One reader’s trash is another’s treasure so choose carefully.

The three most common and enduring tarot card decks are: The Rider-Waite The Marseille The Thoth Any of these are solid and well-travelled decks that have inspired hundreds of others.

Q: When’s the right time to read for others? A: As soon as you’re somewhat comfortable with the cards and spreads, practice reading by reading for others. Until you’re quite experienced, you shouldn’t be charging for these readings.

You should also be very upfront about your lack of experience and remind those you read for that your reading is just a perspective and they have free choice in their life.
