Meaning of Each Tarot Card

Major Arcana: 7 The Chariot

The Chariot is a great example of how the pictures on Tarot cards can illustrate their meanings. We see a young man, ably controlling two mighty creatures that pull a large chariot. The young person commanding the chariot is both warrior and holy man, his face at peace but showing strength and respect

He guides two beasts - they symbolize the opposing forces in the universe. Past and present, positive and negative, night and day - understanding of these forces started with the Lovers ; with the Chariot, you learn to control them.

Tuning into the world and working with its energy instead of trying to overpower it, is the quickest way of gaining peace and success. While the balance of the Chariot can usher in speedy achievements, it also reminds us that balance of the universe is delicate and pride can often hinder mastery.

Upright: Hard work and self-control are a crucial element of your coming achievements. You've struggled and almost given up but your belief in yourself is what carried you through. Others may think your successes happened quickly and easily but truthfully, you've worked hard and are about to be rewarded.

Sometimes, the Chariot represents a person coming into your world who inspires you to continue because they believe in you and know what you're capable of.

Often, this energy can lead to travel, news or opportunity from far away. The Chariot can also serve as a reminder when you are wasting your time and not living up to your full potential.

Reversed: When the Chariot is reversed, you have become your own worst enemy. When you view other people's successes, you are jealous and dismiss the hard work. Addiction can cloud your ambition and you are convinced that the world owes you something.

While you have talents, you never use them to your fullest advantage. A lack of self-belief may be holding you back but really you just have to commit to action. A plan is needed now, to best use your abilities and keep you focussed.
