Meaning of Each Tarot Card

Major Arcana, 2 The High Priestess

Hidden emotions, deep secrets, intuition and the feminine mystique all appear with the High Priestess. With the Magician, the knowledge you gained of yourself was of your readily apparent skills; the High Priestess indicates communicating deeper.

She influences dreams, intuition, psychic abilities and powerful emotions. At first, it may seem scary to venture into these unknown waters.

Her quiet contemplation and peace says that it is a necessary journey and you will emerge more content and confident for it.

Upright: There are times when the veil between the physical and the supernatural worlds seems to have lifted - strange things become normal.

With the High Priestess, you are entered a period when you are connecting to a deep and hidden part of yourself. This may be an interest in the mystic, deep emotions, or your intuitive, psychic abilities. You will become attuned to the natural timing of the universe, listening to instinct rather than focusing on logic.

It is a good time to develop your intuition - meditation, divination or creativity exercise would help to exercise your mind. The High Priestess is a symbol of a powerful woman whose wisdom is related to her strong connection to herself.

Reversed: In the times when the High Priestess is reversed, it is the time for observation not action. Like an iceberg, your problem are deeper than you thought. You need time to understand what is really going on before committing to a course of action.

Sometimes, the High Priestess reversed can indicate that you are hiding your intuitive feelings or trying to hide from another secret part of yourself. You may be surrounding yourself with empty chatter and shallow friends as a distraction.

In some cases, this card can refer to hidden destructive forces around you - again, this is a time to understand the situation rather than attempting to change it.

Keywords: strong female influence, intuition, dreams, paranormal, psychic powers, deep emotions, patience, need more facts before acting, repressed feelings, hiding intuition, shallow friends, hidden enemies, destructive influences.
